📰 Driving the Day at the Nats Report
Here are some top stories we're tracking in the Nats Report Newsroom

ICYMI: Drew Millas shows a pattern of being a Major League catcher. One of the interesting stories we will be watching when the Nationals are in Spring Training (next month!) is who will be the starting catcher for the Nationals. Many believe that Kiebert Ruiz has a lock to start, which might be the case; the backup catcher position will surely be a coveted spot. One of the players to watch at the catching position to catcher Drew Millas. "Last year, Millas began his 3rd full season in the Nationals’ organization. Scouts look at patterns when trying to evaluate players. The pattern that I have noticed with Millas is that when he receives a promotion, his offensive output declines while he’s adjusting to his new level of play. Every player has to make these adjustments, but not every player can make them. In 2024, Millas started the season in Rochester again. Just as he did in Harrisburg in his second season, his batting average jumped to over 0.300." Read more about Drew in our latest edition of the Rochester Report.

🖥️ Meet the Press. Yesterday, while we were all snowed in, Josh Bell met with reporters on a Zoom conference call. Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports has a wrap-up of the call. Check out our coverage of the Trevor Williams, Nathaniel Lowe, and Michael Soroka free-agent signings this offseason.

🗓 ON THIS DAY: JANUARY 6, 1996. Yesterday was a day that I will never forget. When I turned 13, I celebrated my Bar Mitzvah in another snowstorm: The Billzard of 1996 in New York City. The blizzard in 1996 was a severe nor'easter that paralyzed the United States East Coast with up to 4 feet (1.2 m) of wind-driven snow from January 6 to January 8, 1996. While I was celebrating in New York City, most of Virginia was impacted, with the more central and western parts receiving one to three feet (30 to 91 cm) of snow and the metro DMV area receiving 13 to 17 inches (33 to 43 cm).
