According to multiple reports, the New York Mets will be giving Max Scherzer $130M, on a 3-year deal. For those keeping scores, Max Scherzer's $43.3 million average annual value is the largest in the sport’s history.

Scherzer is 190-97 with a 3.16 ERA in his career for the D-backs, Tigers, Nationals, and Dodgers. Although he is 37 years old, meaning a three-year deal would take him through his age 39 season, Scherzer has shown only mild signs of slowing.

Scherzer has won more games with a lower ERA in his 30s than he did in his 20s, though he did scratch himself from World Series Game 6 due to arm fatigue. Scherzer’s 2,536 2/3 career innings rank fourth among active pitchers behind only Zack Greinke, Justin Verlander, and Jon Lester.

The Mets have been busy over the Thanksgiving holiday as they signed three big bats by agreeing to terms with outfielders Starling Marte and Mark Canha as well as infielder Eduardo Escobar.

Once again the Mets make a big offseason splash just like last year when they signed catcher James McCain.
