Today, the Washington Nationals reinstated right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer from the 10-day Injured List and placed right-handed pitcher Kyle Finnegan on the 10-day Injured List (retroactive to June 21) with a left hamstring strain on Tuesday.

Scherzer, 36, will start tonight's night’s series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies. His last full start came on June 4 against the Phillies before being removed from his start on June 11 against the San Francisco Giants. Scherzer was placed on the 10-day Injured List on June 15 with groin inflammation.
Scherzer is 5–4 with a 2.21 ERA in 13 starts for the Nationals this season. He ranks among National League pitchers in strikeouts per 9.0 innings (3rd, 12.10), strikeout-to-walk ratio (T3rd, 6.93), opponents’ on-base percentage (4th, .233), ERA (6th, 2.21), strikeouts (T6th, 104), and opponents’ batting average (7th, .179).
Finnegan, 29, is 3–2 with a 3.86 ERA in 33 games out of Washington’s bullpen this season.
