Breaking News: Pitcher Jeremy Jeffress Released from the Washington Nationals
The Washington Nationals have released Pitcher Jeremy Jeffress.
Update 12:43 p.m. EST -
Jeffress was issued a 100-game suspension back in 2009 when he pitched for the Brewers, and was also issued a 50-game suspennsion back in 2007 after testing positive for "a drug of abuse," which was reportedly marijuana.
According to Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post [Tweet link], Washington Nationals have released pitcher and reliever Jeremy Jeffress. According to Dougherty, in a statment given by GM Mike Rizzo, Jefferes was released because "for personnel reasons.”
The Washington Nationals signed Jeffress to a minor league deal back in February, hoping that he would be another option for Dave Martinez to come in from the Bullpen.
Jeffress has not yet even appeared in a Spring Training game for the Washington Nationals.
His contract was not guaranteed contract despite coming off a strong year with the Chicago Cubs.
