Tonight the Washington Nationals will kick off a three game series against the Chicago Cubs at Nationals Park.

The Washington Nationals defeated the New York Yankees, 5-2 on Wednesday night. LHP MacKenzie Gore pitched 6.0 innings of two-run ball, and OF Dylan Crews hit his first home run, helping the Nationals win the series against the New York Yankees. With the win on Wednesday night against the New York Yankees, the Nationals claimed the series victory for the second consecutive season.

The win marks the Nationals' third straight home series win and their fourth series win in the last five home series since the beginning of August.

James Wood also recorded a career-high three stolen bases and he finished the night 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored. His three stolen bases tied the single-game record for most stolen bases by a rookie in Nationals history (2005-present). The last player to accomplish this feat was infielder Trey Lipscomb on May 14, 2024, against the Chicago White Sox.

Dylan Crews finished the game against the New York Yankees 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and a run scored. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Crews' leadoff home run made him the second player in Nationals history to hit a leadoff home run for his first career home run.

Lastly, Jacob Young finished the game 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Young has now recorded four multi-hit games over his last six games. Over these six games, Young is hitting .450 (9-for-20) with three doubles, one home run, two RBI, two stolen bases and scored five runs.
