The Washington Nationals look to bounce back after losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in extra innings last night. The Nationals will send LHP LHP MacKenzie Gore (6-7; 3.47 ERA) to the mound and face St. Louis Cardinals’ RHP Lance Lynn (4-3; 3.59 ERA) this evening.

The Nationals are in a stretch of 17 straight games - that started on June 28 at Tampa Bay - without a day off leading to the All-Star break.

Last night, the Washington Nationals lost in extra innings against St. Louis. Cardinals 7-6. Luis Garica Jr. went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored. Garica is now hitting .375 (12-for-32) with two doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, and seven runs scored over his last nine games in seven starts. [More on this later]

LHP Patrick Corbin pitched 5.0 innings, striking out three and allowing three runs on six hits and two walks. Corbin has pitched to a 3.81 ERA (12 ER/28.1 innings) with 24 strikeouts and eight walks and only gave up two homeruns over his last five starts.

James Wood finished the game last night going 1-for-5 with a single in the fifth inning and now has reached base in his every game at the major league level. [More on this later]

Before today’s game, the Washington Nationals announced they had recalled Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A- Rochester in the corresponding move. The Nationals designated third baseman Nick Senzel for assignment on Saturday.

Lipscomb has appeared in 38 games so far with the Nationals and has a batting average of .237.

He has nine RBI, one home run, and 28 hits with the Nationals during the games up in the majors. This marks Lipscomb’s fourth Major League stint with the Nationals this season.

While with the Rochester Red Wings, Lipscomb has 20 RBI, a batting average of .290, an OPS of .763, and 38 hits.
