Game storylines and notes
Tonight the Washington Nationals will conclude their series against the New York Yankees
Last Game Out
Thanks to an impressive performance from LHP Patrick Corbin, who threw 6.0 shutout innings of two-hit ball and back-to-back home runs from Andrés Chaparro and José Tena, the Nationals pulled off a 4-2 win over the NewYork Yankees. Corbin has now allowed two earned runs or fewer over his last three starts, and during that span, Corbin is 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA with 13 hits allowed, five walks, and 16 strikeouts.
Nationals OF Dylan Crews got his first Major League hit, a double off Gerrit Cole in the bottom of the second inning. Crews became the third Nationals player to record their first hit off a Cy Young winner, and Crews finished 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, and a run scored.
Washington Nationals Roster Move
This afternoon, the Washington Nationals announced that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Orlando Ribalta from Triple-A Rochester and placed right-handed pitcher Joan Adon on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to Aug. 25) with a right shoulder biceps strain on Wednesday.
