The losing pitcher was LHP DJ Herz, who now has a record of 2-7 and an ERA of 4.09. The winning pitcher for the Chicago Cubs was Javier Assad, who now has a record of 7-4. Porter Hodge got his third save of the season for the Cubs.

RHP Jameson Taillon is scheduled to take the mound tomorrow for his 24th season start for the Chicago Cubs. Taillon is coming off a strong performance on August 26 in Pittsburgh, where he earned his ninth win of the year; Taillon has been a consistent contributor to the team.
In 2023, Jameson faced the Nationals twice, allowing six runs in 8.2 innings pitched. Despite the runs allowed, he did not receive a decision in either game.
