The Harrisburg Senators took a 3-2 lead into the eighth inning but couldn’t hold the lead and lost to Erie 5-3 Sunday afternoon at FNB Field. Gilbert Lara hit a two-run in the fifth inning to tie the game. Harrisburg went on to take the lead in the seventh, 3-2. Erie tallied two in the eighth and one more in the ninth.
Jake Irvin started and went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out six and walked two. Steven Fuentes was outstanding in his two innings of work. He struck out two and allowed a single. Jose Ferrer took the loss in his Sens debut, going an inning and allowing two runs on three hits. Zach Brzykcy tossed the final frame and allowed a run on a hit while striking out two.
Harrisburg had seven hits, and no batter had two hits. Darren Baker singled, driving in a run, and extending his hitting streak to ten games. Jackson Cluff singled, walked, and scored twice. Jack Dunn doubled and walked.
Erie took the series four games to two. Couple with Bowie’s win, Erie and Bowie are tied for first and play a six-game series in Erie this coming week. Erie scored nine of the twelve runs Saturday and Sunday in the final three innings of the two games.
