The Rochester Red Wings won over the Syracuse Mets Sunday afternoon by a 7-2. With the win, the Wings split the series in Syracuse and finished with a record of 15-9 in 2022 against the Triple-A affiliate of the Mets. LHP MacKenzie Gore got the start for the Wings in a rehab assignment. In 1.2 innings pitched, Gore allowed just two hits.
The Wings called on RHP Tommy Romero in relief, who pitched 4.1 innings, surrendering only two hits while striking out five. This marked the longest outing for Romero since pitching 6.0 innings with the Durham Bulls on July 7, 2022
The Wings got the scoring started in the 3rd, as the 30th double of the season for CF Andrew Stevenson scored C Wilmer Perez. SS Lucius Fox then singled in Stevenson to take a 2-0 lead.
The scoring continued in the 4th, behind the eighth home run of the year for 3B Jake Alu, his third this series. Through 10 September games, Alu has matched his season high for home runs hit in a single month with four, which he did while with Double-A Harrisburg in June.
F DJ Peters would triple in RF Nick Banks to make the score 4-0. C Jecksson Flores added two RBI of his own. The Syracuse Mets would get on the board in the 8th with a two-run home run from CF Jake Magnum.
Next, the Wings will return home for a series against Lehigh Valley on Tuesday night.
