Since it is holiday time, there is some good news to report and it comes via Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer and Humane Rescue Alliance board member Erica Scherzer.
Thanks to the Scherzer's generosity, the couple is funding adoption fees for 11 unique animals who have been in Humane Rescue Alliance's care the longest.
The Scherzers are sponsoring adoption fees for the following animals: ·

- -Speedy (turtle), 383 days
- -Delfina (dog), 248 days
- -Lexy (cat), 153 days
- -Linus (cat), 107 days
- -Ethel (cat), 65 days
- -Beluga (rabbit), 75 days
- -Whitey (cat), 74 days
- -Oksana (cat), 62 days
- -Bean (dog), 51 days
- -Precious (dog), 51 days
In a press release released by the Humane Rescue Alliance, Erica Scherzer, Humane Rescue Alliance board member said: "Max and I know this year and holiday season have been particularly challenging for many community members, and we hope covering the fees for these special animals will help even more people discover the benefits of the human-animal bond."
"This is an extremely generous endeavor by Erica and Max," said Stephanie Shain, executive vice president, and chief operating officer at the Humane Rescue Alliance. "By allowing us to provide fee-waived adoptions, we hope to help these animals start 2021 off right – in a home with a family of their own."
