Washington, DC - On a night Anthony Rendon returns to Nationals Park for the first time since the Nationals won their title in 2019, the Nats were not going to be denied. The Nationals found themselves in extra innings for the second day in a row, unlike the loss to the Giants last night ( a sloppy game in sloppy conditions), the Nationals defeated the Angels in the 10th, with a 3-2 walk-off.

Kyle Finnegan pitched the ninth and tenth innings (clutch) the day after he gave up three runs (two earned) in two-thirds of an inning, in just 28 pitches. Finnegan got the ball in the ninth, and for the tenth inning, he went to Martinez and said he wanted to go back out. "He wants the ball, he wants to win" , Martinez said of his All-Star closer. And that he did. This time he completed two scoreless innings on 29 pitches (18 strikes)

In the bottom of the tenth inning automatic runner was Jacob Young, the speedster advanced to third base on a sac bunt from Nasim Nunez. Alex Call was ready when the Angels made a pitching change for Ben Joyce. Call said he "felt comfortable" from watching Joyce play at Tennessee. Call made contact on a low 99.1 mph fast ball driving in Young with a line-drive past 2nd baseman Luis Guillorme.

Call stated "It's part of owning the moment". "You live for that, and you are ready for it... It's a great pitch, and I am just glad I could hit it hard and get it done".

The Nationals clinched their 30th comeback win of the season and improved to 4-8 in extra innings and 2-7 walk-off wins.

Gatorade Celebration Complete - Congrats Call

Worth mentioning: On a night that Mitchell Parker had a very good outing; 6.1 innings pitched, gave up 8 hits, 2 runs, 5 K's, he did not get the win.

Winning Pitcher: Finnegan - Losing Pitcher: Moore.
