According to Mark Berman, Sports Director at Fox 26, outfielder and free agent Michael Brantley is returning to the Houston Astros.
According to Berman and an MLB source, the Astros have reached an agreement with Michael Brantley on a two-year deal worth $32 million. At the beginning of the day, it was reported that the Toronto Blue Jays signed Brantley by multiple baseball reporters.
In the wake of the initial report, Blue Jays officials refuted the deal.
This is the second two-year contract for Brantley. During the past two seasons in Houston, Brantley earned his fourth All-Star nod in 2018 and has a stellar .309/.370/.497 line with 27 home runs over 824 plate appearances during his run with the Astros.
Even though Brantley didn't sign for the Blue Jays, his former teammate, Astros outfielder George Springer, Springer is heading to Toronto for a reported six-year deal for $150M, sources say.
