Although the second half has been mostly rather flat for the Senators, they had a good week last week, winning five straight against the Flying Squirrels after dropping the opener. Hopefully it gives them some momentum going into this week's series in Akron against the division-leading Rubber Ducks. Let's get to it!

Scores & Standings

Richmond 11, Harrisburg 3 (Tuesday); Harrisburg 4, Richmond 1 (Wednesday); Harrisburg 8, Richmond 5 (Thursday); Harrisburg 1, Richmond 0 (Friday); Harrisburg 3, Richmond 1 (Saturday); Harrisburg 9, Richmond 8 (Sunday). The Senators are now 18-27 in the second half, 11 games back of Akron in the Eastern League's Southwest Division and tied for fifth place with Altoona.

Pitcher of the Week - Andry Lara, RHP

After getting royally jobbed the previous Friday in Bowie by the plate ump and subsequently getting bombed to the tune of eight runs in two innings, Wednesday was a big comeback opportunity for Lara, who very well could make his major league debut in 2025, and he made the most of it. Lara completed six innings on 75 pitches, allowing a run on two hits and a walk while striking out four. It was Lara's tenth quality start at the AA level, and it helped the Senators get their first win of the series and carry momentum forward for the rest of the week.

Hitter of the Week - Yohandy Morales, 1B/3B

Welcome back, YoYo! This series was Morales's first full week back with Harrisburg since breaking his thumb back in May, and he continued the torrid hitting from his rehab stint with Fredericksburg the previous week, going 8-for-21 with a double, a pair of homers, and three walks for a .381/.480/.714 line for the week. In what had been looking a little bit like a lost season due to the injury and his struggles prior to that, Morales looked like a new hitter this week. FNB Field is one of the toughest parks for hitters in all of affiliated baseball - you won't see many hitters go oppo to leave the yard entirely like Morales did for his second bomb of the week.

Other Notes

Daylen Lile went 8-for-24 with four extra-base hits this week for a sparkling .333/.407/.625 line as he makes his case to spend next season at AAA auditioning for a major league gig...Cortland Lawson totaled eight hits on the week as well, although without the power of either Morales or Lile...J.T. Arruda continued his hot hitting as he gets opportunities with Kevin Made injured, batting .294/.350.588...Chase Solesky threw eight innings of one-run ball and has been good enough that I'm left scratching my head as to why the White Sox of all teams released him...four relievers (Daison Acosta, Marquis Grissom, Jack Sinclair, and Michael Cuevas) made two scoreless appearances each this week, striking out 13 batters in 11 innings.

Roster Moves

Tyler Stuart is moving up after four starts with Harrisburg since coming over in the Jesse Winker trade, probably because Brad Lord took a 105-mph comebacker off of his pitching hand on Saturday...Robert Hassell has hit .259/.276/.370 over the past couple of weeks and could rejoin the Senators this week - I hope that Lile-Hassell-Pinckney is the regular outfield for the rest of this AA season and most of the 2025 AAA season.

Coming Up

Harrisburg visits Akron this season to play the Rubber Ducks, who already won the first half division title and are leading the second half as well.
