Good Morning Washington Nationals Fan,
Here are the latest headlines and analyses around the Washington Nationals and Major League Baseball for today, May 31, 2023. My name is Haden Raymer and this is your morning briefing. Unfortunately, today is a bit more of a bare-bones morning briefing, so it’s just scores and minor recaps.

Leading today’s Morning Briefing: Nationals lose game 1 to the Arizona Diamondbacks
Despite a Stone Garrett grand slam in the bottom of the first, the Nationals could not keep their momentum and lost 10-5. Jake Irvin could not get any swings and misses, with only three of his 59 strikes being whiffs. Keibert Ruiz continued to make loud contact, getting a double today. Lane Thomas hit a solo shot in the fifth, but it was far too late.

The Rochester Red Wings dominated the Worchester Red Sox 11-6. Derek Hill was a double short of the cycle. Carter Kieboom doubled and Matt Adams homered. Joan Adon threw a decent start and just walked four over five innings.
The Harrisburg Senators fell 6-5 to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Blake Rutherford continues his hot streak after hitting a double. Doolittle struggled in his rehab start, but it’s rehab so take that with a grain of salt.
The Wilmington Blue Rocks lost 2-1 to the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The Blue Rocks could only muster five hits. Jake Bennett was dominant in his High-A debut, striking out eight batters over five innings. He only allowed three hits and one run.
The FredNats just keep on winning, defeating the Charleston RiverDogs 5-4. Daylen Lile and Elijah Green both doubled. Brady House went 2-5 and stole a base and Armando Cruz recorded a hit.
