Leading today’s Morning Briefing: Nats swept the Giants
The Giants entered the weekend 11 games above .500 and tied for second in the NL West. The Nats battle, and swept the Giants. Jake Irvin tossed a really solid start, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings. Keibert Ruiz continues to hit for extra bases, going 1-4 with a double. CJ Abrams and Lane Thomas both homered. The Nats won 5-3.
Saturday was Abrams’ bobblehead day, as well as Dylan Crews’ introductory press conference, and the Nats put on a show. They had 14 hits in this game, 11 of which were singles. Of course, Abrams homered on his bobblehead day. Josiah Gray threw seven innings of one-run ball. The Nationals won 10-1. Giants starter Logan Webb in a post-game called the Nationals as scrappy.
