Good Morning Washington Nationals Fan,
Here are the latest headlines and analyses around the Washington Nationals and Major League Baseball for today, July 27th. My name is Haden Raymer and this is your morning briefing. Last night the Angels and Nationals were deep in talks to send Jeimer Candelario to LA so let’s talk about it.

Leading today’s Morning Briefing: Angels trying to acquire Jeimer Candelario
Late last night, MLB insider Jon Morosi reported that the Angels were deep in talks to acquire Jeimer Candelario. This was after the Angels went out and traded for RHP Lucas Giolito and LHP Reynaldo Lopez. This comes after reports earlier that Shohei Ohtani was no longer available on the trade market.
The fit makes sense. The Angels have been mixing and matching players at 3B ever since Anthony Rendon and Gio Urshela went down with injury. Candelario offers stability at the position as a plus defensive option that won’t have to be a middle of the order bat.
As for a return, the Angels just traded two of their best prospects for Giolito and Lopez. Players like Jake Madden, Sam Bachman, or Nelson Rada are at the top of the list for options now, and the Nationals could potentially get multiple of the Angels’ top prospects if the Nats package Candelario with an arm like Finnegan.
Nats take late win over Colorado Rockies
The Nationals won 6-5 on Tuesday, and then scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to win 5-4.
Jake Irvin tossed six innings of four-run ball with seven strikeouts. Daniel Bard melted down in the ninth, walking four Nats (one of which was intentional), and hitting Dom Smith with a pitch. CJ Abrams was the hero, hitting a single up the middle for the walk off victory.
The Nats Report Player of the Game is CJ Abrams. Tonight the Nationals take on the New York Mets at 7:10 p.m. on MASN.
The #Nationals rallied late for the second straight game, with our player of the game C.J. Abrams hitting a walk-off single capping a 4-run comeback.
Now that's #Natitude
