Leading today’s Morning Briefing: Nationals take game one from the New York Yankees

Last night the Nationals beat the New York Yankees 2-1. The Yankees have now lost their past nine games. The Nationals scored their first run on a Carter Kieboom solo home run, swinging on the first pitch he had seen in the majors since October 3rd, 2021. The Yankees answered with a Ben Rortvedt home run. CJ Abrams hit another solo home run in the eighth to take the lead.

Despite giving up lots of hard contact, Josiah Gray did an excellent job at limiting runs, holding the Yankees to one hit over six innings of work. He struck out four and walked five batters. Mason Thompson, Hunter Harvey, and Kyle Finnegan each pitched a scoreless inning, with the only hit coming off Thompson in the seventh inning.

Congrats to Carter Kieboom for being our player of the game from last night!

You really brought the #Natitude!
