Nationals start their homestand with a win (May 20, 2024)

Washington D.C. — The Washington Nationals returned to action at Nationals Park and faced the Minnesota Twins, winning tonight 12-3. The Nationals scored 12 runs on 14 hits tonight and are now 21-25.

The Nationals are now 8-10 at home this season.

Getting the start for the Nationals was LHP Mitchell Parker. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on  7 hits. Parker pitched a total of 94 with 7 of them being strikes.

Relievers RHP Derek Law, RHP Dylan Floro, closed out the game for the Nationals. Law gave up one hit and one walk, while Floro did not surrender any hits, walks, or runs.

The Nationals' bats were hot tonight, starting in the bottom of the second with a home run by Luis García Jr. This was followed by a home run from Jesse Winker in the bottom of the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth, Jacob Young, Joey Meneses, and Luis García Jr all singled. Eddie Rosario added singles in the bottom of the sixth and eighth inning.

Next, the Nationals will continue their homestand against the Twins with Patrick Corbin on the mound Tuesday night at 6:45 p.m.
