This quote from Juan Soto should put a smile on any Washington Nationals fan's face. When talking yesterday at Spring Training Soto was quoted saying: "I always see my future here [Washington] … I never think about leaving or anything like that."

It is ironic that Soto stood talking to reporters on Monday in the same place in the Nationals Spring Training Clubhouse where Anthony Rendon and Bryce Harper once talked about their own futures in Washington D.C. [all three of them are Scott-Boras clients] Unlike these players who have recently departed, this quote is something that they would haven't ever said.

Recently, Mike Rizzo said that Juan Soto is the new face of the franchise which puts extreme pressure on the 23-year-old World Series Champion and runner-up in the NL MVP race in 2021. A Washington Times article, mentions Soto's response to being the MVP runner-up last season: "I just try to stay focused on the game and be ready. Last year I was ready, and when they talk about that, I focus more."

Either way, the new "face of the franchise" needs a long-term contract to make his quote become reality and Rizzo knows that, but the question will always remain with the Lerner's: are they willing to make the move necessary?
