On Sunday, July 10, The Nationals reinstated reliever Hunter Harvey after missing time with a pronator strain. Harvey was good in his appearances with the Nationals before his injury, albeit in a minuscule sample size as he allowed 0 runs in 2.2 innings pitched.

Besides Harvey rejoining the Nationals, two other moves were made that are at the very least just as interesting. First, the Nationals transferred SP Jackson Teatrault to the 60-day injured list; second, they returned SP Joan Adon to AAA Rochester. Teatrault moving to the 60-day IL leaves a 40-man roster spot open, and Adon being sent down opens up a spot in the rotation.

With the only established members of the Nationals' rotation being Patrick Corbin, Josiah Gray, and Erick Fedde, two spots are now open with some interesting candidates.

Paolo Espino will likely take one place, while Anibal Sanchez, Josh Rogers, and notably Cade Cavalli will compete for the other spot. Cavalli is not currently on the 40-man roster, but that may change, especially with Teatrault opening up one spot.
