On Friday afternoon, MASN's own Bob Carpenter announced on [platform X] that he will be returning to the broadcast booth for the Washington Nationals for the 2024 season.
In his [platform X] post making the announcement, Carpenter said: "My baseball family, I’m pleased to share that I’ll remain on Nationals TV for the next two seasons. I’ll be covering most of the road games and approximately half of the home games. I’m grateful to the Nats and MASN for allowing me to wind down my career on these terms…"
Carpenter also confirmed that fellow broadcasters Dan Kolko and Kevin Frandsen will also return for the 2024 season.
Kevin Frandsen will resume his role as the Nationals' color commentator after replacing fan favorite FP Santangelo in 2022. Frandsen played with the Washington Nationals back in 2014.
Dan Kolko will be returning for his 13th season covering the Nationals and 11th as part of the TV broadcast team. He will have a hybrid role, hosting the "Nats Xtra" pre- and postgame shows, serving as an on-field reporter, and providing fill-in play-by-play. Kolko has also contributed interviews and content for the Nationals’ social media channels since joining the organization in 2021.
Carpenter has been the Washington Nationals' TV broadcaster since 2006. Before becoming the Nationals' play-by-play announcer, he had two stints calling television broadcasts for the St. Louis Cardinals. Carpenter also spent 16 seasons as a baseball announcer with ESPN and a total of 18 seasons overall with the network, covering soccer, college baseball, basketball, football, and minor league baseball, in addition to the major leagues. He also served as a team broadcaster for the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, and Texas Rangers.
