Quick Notes: Former Washington Nationals Trea Turner to the Chicago Cubs: 'Mandatory' to know the future timeline

According to an NBC Sports Chicago story, former Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner wants to know what the plan of the future is for the Chicago Cubs "rebuild" that the team is currently in.

Gordon Wittenmeyer, NBC Sports Chicago Cubs insider, reported that in a conversation with the former Washington Nationals shortstop, Turner discussed if Jed Hoyer, who is President of Baseball Operations of the Chicago Cubs, reached out to him this winter, "He’d need to hear Hoyer’s so-far elusive plan and the even-more-elusive timeline for his Rebuild That Shall Not Be Named."

During this conversation, Turner went on further, saying, "From learning how this process works from talking to other guys, I think that’s mandatory...From multiple organizations, you’d want to know what they expect, where it’s going, or what they’re trying to do — kind of a vision,” he said. “Whatever that vision is, it is. But I think that’s mandatory."

The former Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner was traded to the Los Angles Dodgers last summer in the trade that sent him and Max Scherzer. Turner, 29, is one of the top hitters in the upcoming free agent class, joining a second consecutive bumper crop of available shortstops expected to include Carlos Correa of the Twins and Xander Bogaerts of the Red Sox.
