The Rochester Red Wings lost 3-2 to the Columbus Clippers Wednesday night at Huntington Park in extra innings.
RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon toed the rubber for the Red Wings, giving up three hits and two runs through five innings of action. He logged seven strikeouts, his most in a game since July 1 with Tacoma.
The Wings scored both runs in the third inning thanks to an RBI single from 2B Jake Noll that scored SS Jecksson Flores, and an RBI walk from C Riley Adams.
Columbus’ first two runs came in the fourth when Bo Naylor registered a two-run homer to tie the contest at two runs apiece.
David Fry hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to score Jose Fermin and secure the Columbus victory.
Rochester went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base.
Hoping to regain momentum, Rochester will send RHP Sterling Sharp to the mound at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday in game three of the series against the Clippers.
