The Rochester Red Wings dropped the final game of the mini-series against Buffalo 1-0 at Sahlen Field Sunday afternoon.
RHP Cory Abbott got the start for Rochester, giving up five hits and a run through four innings of action.
Both teams remained scoreless through the first three innings until Buffalo’s Colton Shaver homered in the fourth to put the Bisons up 1-0. Shaver was assigned to Buffalo on July 12 and has recorded two hits and one homer in four games with the Bisons. His homer on Sunday was the only scoring play of the game.
C Riley Adams went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double in the loss. His three hits are his most in a minor league game this season.
Wings relievers RHP Jefry Rodriguez, LHP Alberto Baldonado, and RHP Mason Thompson held Buffalo to one hit in four innings.
The Bisons went six deep in their bullpen, with their relievers allowing just three hits in seven innings. The Wings went 5-for-32 at the plate, with Adams being the lone multi-hit performer of the afternoon.
Rochester will enjoy a day off on Monday before beginning a six-game homestand against Scranton-W/B (Yankees) on Tuesday. Justin Morneau and Jim Mandelaro will be inducted into the Red Wings Hall of Fame before the 7:05 p.m. first pitch Tuesday night.
