Rochester RedWings dropped the series opener to Worcester, 4-2. The Red Wings have now lost five-straight series openers dating back to Memorial day (5/30 v BUF). RHP Anibal Sanchez made his second start on a Rehab Assignment, he pitched 2.2 innings and gave up three runs (two earned) in the loss to the Woo Sox.
MISSED OPPORTUNITY: Tuesday night, Buffalo (first place) and Lehigh Valley (tied second) both lost as Rochester misses out on a chance to gain ground in the division…Worcester scored all four runs with two-outs in tonight’s game against the Wings, earning their first win against the Rochester since September 25, 2021 (seven games)…the Wings were 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position in the loss.
KEEP IT NOLLING: Second baseman Jake Noll went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in the 6th inning tonight against Worcester. Noll now has an eight-game hitting streak, his longest since his nine-game streak in 2021 (8/24-9/2).
THE OTHER MASE: RHP Mason Thompson made his third rehab appearance with the Red Wings, pitching two innings and allowing just two hits while striking out two…the righty’s two innings pitched tonight was his longest outing this season and since starting a Major League Rehab Assignment with Rochester on June 22, Thompson has given up just two hits in four innings of work. Thompson has a strikeout in each of his four innings with the Wings and 11 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of Minor-League-rehab (16 K/9), dating back to 6/13 with the FCL Nationals.
Outfielder Donovan Casey went 2-for-4 in tonight’s contest…Casey now has hits in back-to-back games after not playing since June 10. Casey was the only Red Wing with multiple hits in tonight’s loss.
