Before Wednesday's afternoon game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Davey Martinez gave some insight into the next steps and how the two pitchers are doing after their rehab starts.
Here are a couple of quotes from Martinez:
- “I think they saw his velo drop a little bit, and I think he might have said something to them I don’t know the whole story about it, but what we do know he is he was sore. He came back here last night. The doctor looked at him, and then they want to get an MRI to see what’s going on.” Davey Martinez on the next steps for RHP Joe Ross
- “It’s a concern, because it’s his elbow again... But I don’t want to jump to any conclusions until we get the MRI back.” Davey Martinez on the next steps for RHP Joe Ross.
- It’s normal soreness today, which is good,... I feel like once I get to that point where I’m sore after an outing, that usually seems to build better and better after that. So it’s been a long time coming.” Davey Martinez on RHP Stephen Strasburg after his rehab start in Fredericksburg Tuesday night.
- “I’m not the one making the call when I’m pitching up here again, but I feel good today and I’m going to continue working on what I need to work on.. They talk about focusing on the process. That never changes as a pitcher, no matter if you’re healthy from day one or coming back like I am. You just have to keep looking big picture and getting better every day.” Davey Martinez on RHP Stephen Strasburg after his rehab start in Fredericksburg Tuesday night and the next steps.
