Here is your daily Washington Nationals down on the farm report and what’s happening on Friday, May 13, 2022:
Fredericksburg Nationals (Single-A)
In the second extra-inning game of the season between the FredNats and the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, Kannapolis stole one 6-5 in 11 innings on Thirsty Thursday night at Virginia Credit Union Stadium.
2019 1st round pick Jackson Rutledge started for the FredNats, but a 51-minute rain delay in the top of the 2nd inning cut his outing short. He didn't return after the delay, and Bryan Peña took over for him.
Neither team scored until the 4th when one bad bounce turned the game. With two outs, a drop third strike extended the inning and loaded the bases for Ivan Gonzalez, who blasted a grand slam to left field to make it 4-0.
The FredNats wasted no time coming back, scoring three in the 5th. Four walks in a row led to Leandro Emiliani getting an RBI on the 4th one to make it 4-1. A wild pitch brought in Viandel Peña, and then Branden Boissiere grounded out to drive in the 3rd run to make it 4-3.
Sammy Infante appeared to drive in the tying run in the 5th on a blooper, but the ball was called foul and Infante struck out looking two pitches later.
Peña tied the game in the 6th on an RBI double, one of two doubles for him on Thursday night.

Harrisburg Senators (Double-A)
Shane Matheny’s two home runs were the only scoring plays for the Richmond Flying Squirrels in an 8-2 loss to the Harrisburg Senators on Thursday night at FNB Field.
The Senators (15-14) piled up 13 combined strikeouts with five pitchers and allowed five total baserunners against the Flying Squirrels’ bats.
Matheny launched a solo homer to right field, leading off the game, putting the Flying Squirrels (18-12) ahead, 1-0, in the first inning. It was the first leadoff homer for Richmond this season.
The Senators responded at the bottom of the first with an RBI single from Jake Alu that evened the 1-1.

Rochester Red Wings (Triple-A)
The Red Wings extended their winning streak to five with a 6-2 win over the Worcester Red Sox on Thursday night. RHP Logan Verrett got the win bringing his record to 1-1. Tres
The Red Wings rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Worcester Red Sox, 6-2, Thursday night, extending their season-long win streak to six games.
Logan Verrett saw the mound first for the Wings and struck out four batters in the bottom of the second. The last Wings pitcher to tally a four-stroke inning was Jeff Manship in 2012.
In the fifth, Rochester’s Tres Barrera crushed a homer out of left field and brought Lucius Fox home, tying the game at 2 apiece.
Both teams deployed the bullpen in the sixth, with Francisco Perez relieving Verrett for the Wings. Worcester’s Darin Gillies replaced Pannone but was relieved by Eduardo Bazardo soon after giving up two quick runs.
The Wings had a monster seventh inning, with hits by Luis Garcia and Richard Urena generating a 6-2 lead.
