An annual tradition when it comes to Major League Baseball, MLB.com has released its rankings for the Top 100 baseball players “right now”, essentially the best of the best heading into the 2022 campaign.

This list is generated by the brain trust and analytics department from within the MLB Network, hopefully avoiding any bias and focusing solely on production only. While no rankings list is sure to appease every fan, Washington Nationals fans can be excited that the National's very own Juan Soto is ranked number 4 on the list, above another certain RF.

We bet that news of a Soto contract extension this season would put a smile on everyone's face... Let's just hope that it can happen.

4) Juan Soto, OF, Nationals (2021 rank: 5)
Soto’s combination of unparalleled strike zone discipline and prodigious slugging ability makes him unique in the game today – comparisons to Barry Bonds are not only not far-fetched, but warranted. Over the past two seasons, Soto hit .322/.471/.572 with 42 homers and 186 walks in 198 games. Look at that OBP – he’s reached base safely in nearly half of his plate appearances over a span of almost 200 games. He has power to all fields, a career OPS+ of 160, and, in case you haven’t heard, he’s only 23 years old.
