The Washington Nationals just announced that they had selected the contract of infielder Ildemaro Vargas after this afternoon's trade of Ehire Adrianza to the Braves.

Vargas, 31, hit .245 with 14 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 25 RBI, 27 walks, three stolen bases, and 37 runs scored in 73 games between Triple-A Rochester and Triple-A Iowa Chicago’s (NL) system. He appeared at shortstop (56 G), second base (12 G), and third base (7 G) between the two stops.
