Good Morning, and welcome to The Future, Washington Nationals fans, focused on the Washington Nationals farm system.
More on The Future later, but here is what happened over the weekend around the Washington Nationals minor leagues for August 12, 2024.
Leading this Morning's Briefing: When will Dylan Crews be called up?
With James Wood making waves in the majors and the Nationals boasting young talent across the diamond, all eyes are turning to Dylan Crews in Rochester. Fans eagerly await the day when last year's top draft pick joins the big league club.
There are arguments to be made on both sides, but at the end of the day, the fact that we are discussing what and when the Nationals should call up last year's draft pick is good.
With the Rochester Red Wings, Crews is hitting an impressive .265, a slugging percentage of .465, and an OPS of .809, with six home runs, 45 hits, 20 RBI, and 26 runs scored, since being called to Triple-A. In yesterday's game against the Buffalo Bisons, Crews went 1-4.
Entering Sunday's game, The LSU product has shown a clear preference for hitting on the road, boasting an impressive .894 OPS and five home runs compared to his .718 OPS at home. His recent home run marks the second consecutive game with a long ball, a feat he has only achieved once in his short major league career.
August has been a particularly productive month for Crews, as he has tallied a remarkable 1.048 OPS and five extra-base hits in his first eight games. His consistent offensive output and power-hitting ability have solidified his status as a promising young talent in the minor leagues. Additionally, Crews has demonstrated a knack for hitting left-handed pitching, with his latest home run being just the second of his career against southpaws.
Dylan Crews' development remains a focal point as the Nationals' farm system continues to impress. With his recent surge in performance, the question isn't if he'll reach the majors but when. Nationals fans are holding their breath, eagerly anticipating the day when Crews steps onto the national stage.

Over the weekend however, the Fredericksburg Nationals made history on Saturday by defeating the Carolina Mudcats 7-1 in a thrilling no-hitter.
