Minor League Baseball's seismic shift became official yesterday. With that being said, all of the Nationals' minor league affiliates accepted their offers to become part of the player development system. Luckily, there were no surprises and thank goodness all of the Nationals teams are located on the East Coast!

Social media was abuzz with the announcement that Trea Turner's wife Kristen had given birth to their first son, whose name is Beckham Dash Turner. Check out the picture of the newest Turner! According to Trea's wife, Beckham weighs six pounds 15 ounces and measures out at 20.5 inches.

Doolittle "incredibly grateful" for his time with Nats


With Sean Dootlitle signing with the Reds, there have been a lot of articles written about his time here in Washington D.C. One article that I wanted to share with you was written by Byron Kerr. From the article: "Top in his memory was the Nats wild ride to a first-ever World Series title in 2019. Doolittle spoke about what it took for the Nats to turn that season around, win late in a crazy Wild Card contest against the Brewers and find a way to beat the Dodgers, Cardinals and Astros on the way to the title. 'I don't know if we have enough time to talk about how much we learned,' Doolittle said on a Zoom video call with reporters.

Former Washington Nationals Player News: San Diego Padres to Sign Mark Melancon


Well, the Padres continue to sign baseball players even as Spring Training is just days away from starting. According to Dennis Lin of The Athletic (Twitter link), the Padres are in agreement with the former Washinngton Nationals, Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants closer, Mark Melancon. The 36-year-old Melancon just completed a four-year, $62 million contract that briefly stood as the all-time record for a reliever.

In the coming days, we will take a closer look at all the moves that San Diego made this offseason. Man, the NL West and the NL East are going to be the divisions in the National League to watch. Talking about the NL East....

2021 Season Preview: New York Mets

Yesterday, we previewed this article in the Morning Briefing and it is now up on the website for you to check out. Here is an excerpt from the article: "Heading toward Wednesday’s report date for pitchers and catchers in Port St. Lucie, Fla., the Mets have veteran bullpen arms in Edwin Diaz, Trevor May, Aaron Loup, Miguel Castro, Robert Gsellman and Seth Lugo, who was used as a starter last season. They also have former closers Jeurys Familia and Dellin Betances for now.  As recently as Thursday afternoon, a report from the New York Post indicated that the front office may be “shopping Jeurys Familia and Dellin Betances, according to an industry source, which would create roster flexibility while shedding big contracts. Familia is due $11.67 million in this final year of his contract. Betances is owed $6 million for this season.”

Baseball Hall of Fame cancels traditional outdoor induction ceremony, moves indoors

Yesterday, the Baseball Hall of Fame announced that they are canceling their traditional outdoor induction ceremony and moving it indoors. Even though the Baseball Hall of Fame canceled “Hall of Fame Classic Weekend,” the Hall is moving forward with plans for their July 25 Induction Ceremony, but it is going to look a bit different this year. It was announced that there would be no fans in attendance since the “Presentation and Induction Ceremony as television events taking place indoors and adhering to all of the required New York State guidelines.
