Leading this Morning’s Briefing: Nats lose; head to Miami to start road trip
The Dodgers swept the Nationals in the midweek series. Dodgers’ starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw six innings, striking out seven. MacKenzie Gore threw six innings with four punchouts. The infield turned four double plays behind him, which limited the Dodgers to just one run off of Gore.

Joey Meneses had a three-hit game including a double. CJ Abrams got a hit and a stolen base. Luis García Jr. continues to stay hot and now has a seven-game hit streak.
The Nationals now head to Miami to play the 6-20 Marlins in a four-game series. With Jesus Luzardo scratched from today’s game, RHP Anthony Maldonado will make his MLB debut. He has 10 strikeouts and four walks in 11.2 innings in Triple-A. The Nationals will send ace Trevor Williams to go against the rookie. First pitch will be at 7:10 pm ET and the game is televised on MASN2.

LHP Patrick Corbin (0-3, 6.51 ERA) vs LHP Ryan Weathers (2-2, 3.16 ERA)
RHP Jake Irvin (1-2, 4.55 ERA) vs LHP Trevor Rogers (0-3, 4.10 ERA)
Down in the Minors
St. Paul Saints 3, Red Wings 0: DJ Herz struck out five and walked five in five innings of work. He only gave up three hits though. James Wood, Darren Baker, and Carter Kieboom all doubled. Keiboom is hitting .298/.443/.362.
Erie SeaWolves 3, Senators 2: Only Yohandy Morales, Jordy Barley, and Cortland Lawson got hits. Cole Henry struck out four in three innings. The Senators had to face MLB-best pitching prospect Jackson Jobe, so they get a pass for today.
Blue Rocks 1, Brooklyn Cyclones 0: Luke Young struck out five over six innings. Marcus Brown got two hits and Kevin Made and Daylen Lile chipped in one each.
Nationals 2, Delmarva Shorebirds 0: Elijah Green doubled and Gavin Dugas got two hits including a double. Jose Atencio threw five innings and struck out five.
