Let me upgrade you. On Tuesday afternoon, before the Thanksgiving hoilday, the D.C. Council approved legislation to create dedicated money for the Washington Nationals to use for upgrades and maintenance to Nationals Park named "Ballpark Maintenance Fund." The Ballpark Maintenance Fund is set to draw from several sources, including a portion of the sales tax generated within Nationals Park, rent paid by the Nationals to the District, and surplus funds from an existing ballpark revenue fund. In a statement to the Washington Post, the Nationals said: "By committing resources to ensure that Nationals Park remains a vital anchor for years to come, our area will not only continue to grow, but will also attract more visitors from around the region." the statement reads. With this move, D.C. is solidifying its commitment to professional sports and ensuring that the Nationals remain vital to its cultural and economic landscape. This news also comes after a bill passed by a Senate committee cleared a hurdle for the Commanders to return to the old RFK site.
