Good Morning, Washington Nationals Fans.

Leading this Morning's Briefing: Welcome to Silly Season

Yeah, it's the offseason, and there will be a lot of rumors and talk about teams and players, and it's hard to sort through all the rumors; what's right? What's a smoke screen? Welcome to the silly season, and it's going to be fun.

The latest player that the Nationals have been linked to is first baseman Christian Walker. According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, "Six teams plan to aggressively pursue Walker, with everyone involved, from the New York Yankees to the Diamondbacks to the Washington Nationals, believing he'll come at less than half the price of Alonso. He could ultimately be involved in a bidding war between the Yankees and Mets."

The Nationals want to improve the first base position and add some pop to the lineup. Walker could be a great piece for the Nationals to sign the first baseman, as the team only has Keibert Ruiz's contract on the books and the two remaining years' worth of salary still owed to Stephen Strasburg.

Walker is ranked 13th in MLBTR's list of the offseason's top 50 free agents and is projected to get a three-year, $60 MM deal, which could be even shorter due to his age. Walker joins the list of free agents linked to the Nationals, including another first baseman Jake Burger.
