Leading this Morning's Briefing: Nationals might be interested in Marlins 1st/3rd baseman Jake Burger.
We reported yesterday morning that the Washington Nationals might be interested in first and third baseman from the Miami Marlins Jake Burger. It is an interesting move, to say the least, as according to our source, the Nationals would have to trade a "high-level prospect" in exchange for the 28-year-old corner infielder.
With the Marlins, Burger had a batting average of .250 with a slugging percentage of .460 and also hit 29 home runs, had 76 RBI, and 134 hits with 535 at-bats last season.
Nats Report perspective
Although some may question the Nationals' decision to focus on this young player as their primary off-season acquisition, I believe it could be prudent, particularly if it is part of a comprehensive strategy to reinforce the first and third base positions.
theFUTURE➡️
Yesterday morning, Minor League Baseball and Rawlings Sports announced that Washington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews was awarded the 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove Award for his outstanding defensive performance with both Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Rochester during the 2024 season.
Dylan Crews' achievements stand out as he recorded an impressive .996 fielding percentage while playing for Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Rochester. In 96 MiLB games, he recorded 244 putouts and contributed five outfield assists, and he is the first Rochester Red Wings player to win the award since it was re-introduced in 2011.
The Florida native, splitting time between center and right field, posted a .970 fielding percentage and tallied 127 putouts while contributing with three outfield assists, all three coming from center field. Through 49 games in Rochester, hit .265 (56-for-211), with eight home runs, ten doubles, 30 RBIs, and stole ten bases.
