Welcome to the Morning Briefing! Haden here. The Nats lost to the Mets, again. Let’s talk about it.
Leading this Morning's Briefing: Same mistakes, different results
Patrick Corbin flew through five quick innings through 65 pitches. Then, he allowed three straight hits, and manager Davey Martinez called upon the bullpen before the game got too out of hand in what was now a tied game. With two runners on, who else would Martinez call upon other than Derek Law.
Law proceeded to allow those two runners and an additional runner to score before getting out of the inning.
Otherwise, there were not too many positives from the game from the Nats. Dylan Floro had a strikeout in his perfect inning, which should further boost his trade value. Luis García Jr. doubled, and Lane Thomas and Ildemaro Vargas stole bags.
Once through today and the weekend series against Milwaukee, the Nationals will get a nice week off from baseball. Today, MacKenzie Gore will make his last start before the All-Star break as he takes on LHP David Peterson (3-0, 3.58 ERA). First pitch is at 1:10 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on MASN.

The Red lost to the Worchester Red Sox 7-6. Dylan Crews got a hit and a stolen base. Brady House recorded a hit and was caught trying to steal home. Alex Call got two hits. Orlando Ribalta struck out two in an inning of work.
The Senators lost 5-0 to the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Daylen Lile notched a hit. Jack Sinclair and Marquis Grissom Jr. had great outings in relief, lowering their season ERA to 2.02 and 1.64 respectively.
