Good Morning, Washington Nationals Fans,

Here are the latest headlines and analyses around the Washington Nationals and Major League Baseball for today, February 19, 2024.

Welcome to the Morning Briefing! Haden here, as usual, let’s talk some baseball.

Leading this Morning’s Briefing: The week of videos of live ABs and bullpens from a distance is here

Spring Training. The month and a half of grainy video of live at-bats, bullpens, best shape of their life stories, and over-reactions based on those and some small sample performances once the Spring Training games begin.

It is one of my favorite times of the year, as we get to see top prospects play with the current roster. In times like these, it allows us to imagine what a lineup with Dylan Crews, CJ Abrams, James Wood, Keibert Ruiz, and Brady House would look like.

With high expectations and no sobering reminder that comes with regular season games, we can talk about how the Nationals will build upon their 2023 success. Maybe the Nationals really will bump Trevor Williams to the bullpen in favor of a young rotation of Josiah Gray, MacKenzie Gore, Jake Irvin, and Jackson Rutledge. Maybe one of the top two outfield prospects will make the Opening Day roster. So much can happen to generate excitement around the team and for better or for worse, the reality will not be clear until Opening Day.
