Washington D.C. - The Washington Nationals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-4. The Nationals record stands at 51-61 and is now 25-28 at home this season. Washington is also 35-42 against other NL teams and 12-10 against NL Central teams.

With today's win, the Nationals secured the season series over the Milwaukee Brewers for the first time since 2015. Washington and Milwaukee have tied their season series at 3-3 the last two seasons. The Nationals went 4-6 against the Brewers this season.

RHP Kyle Finnegan secured his 30th save of the 2024 season by closing out the ninth. The Nationals' defense provided great assistance in the ninth, helping Finnegan close it out. The right-hander became the first Washington Nationals closer with 30 saves since Rafael Soriano in 2014.

The Nationals jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a Luis García Jr. home run (13) to center field. It wasn't until the bottom of the sixth that the Nationals broke things open, thanks to a three-run bases-loaded and bases-clearing triple from James Wood, which gave the Nationals a 4-0 lead. Wood ended the day going 2-4 with 3RBI.

The Nationals will kick off a four-game series against the San Francisco Giants tomorrow. The first pitch will be at 6:45 p.m. EDT.

Tomorrow's Probable Starters

Tomorrow, the Nationals will send LHP Patrick Corbin (2-11, 5.88) to the mound who is in search of career win number 100. Corbin is 1-1 with a 3.13 ERA (8 ER / 23.0 IP) and 23 strikeouts over his last four home starts. RHP Logan Webb (8-8, 3.49) is slated to start for the San Fransico Giants as they come to town for a four-game series.
