Washington D.C. - Tonight, the Washington Nationals kicked off a four-game series against the San Francisco Giants with a 4-1 loss.
Tonight, the Washington Nationals sent LHP Patrick Corbin to the mound to face the Giants. Corbin fell short again as he sought his career 100th win.
Corbin went 6.0 innings, giving up four runs, on seven hits, striking out six, walking one and throwing 90 pitches.25 batters and threw 61 strikes. Corbin gave up two home runs, resulting in all of the Giant's four runs. Entering tonight's game, Corbin had yet to surrender a home run in 13 of his 22 starts this season, and Corbin’s 1.19 home runs per 9.0 innings rank sixth among National League left-handed pitchers.
James Wood was the only Nationals to get an RBI tonight, scoring Keibert Ruiz with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. Wood has showcased his impressive offensive talents, hitting .414 with four extra-base hits and six runs scored in his last eight games.
Also, during the homestand and entering tonight's game, Wood had four hits, including a triple, four RBIs, a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored. Wood finished the night 1-3.
The Nationals will continue their four-game series against the Giants tomorrow, with the first pitch at 6:45 p.m. EDT.

Tomorrow, the Washington Nationals will send LHP MacKenzie Gore (6-9, 4.54) to the mound to face the Giants. MacKenzie Gore faces the Giants for the first time this year. In his only start against San Francisco last season, Gore worked 5.0 scoreless innings and struck out eight.
The Giants are slated to send RHP Hayden Birdsong (3-0, 2.97) to the mound to face the Washington Nationals.
