Chicago, IL - The Washington Nationals once again got shutout against the Chicago White Sox 0-2 this afternoon, with many regulars getting some well-deserved rest for the day after a doubleheader yesterday. The Nationals are now 20-22 and will head to Philadelphia to face the Phillies for a weekend series for the final leg of the current road trip. The Nationals are now 14-11 on the road this season and are 10-10 against A.L. teams so far this season.

LHP Patrick Corbin got the loss again even though he went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on six hits, striking out none, and walking two. Corbin pitched a total of 82 pitches, 53 of them being strikes, and faced 23 batters. The south-paws record is now 1-4 with an ERA of 5.59.

Relievers RHP Derek Law, RHP Dylan Floro, and LHP Robert Garcia did not let up a run. However, the Nationals offense couldn’t put any points on the scoreboard.

CHICAGO – Monday’s rain didn’t stop the fiery opener to the three-game series between Washington and Chicago. The first game of yesterday’s doubleheader went to the Washington Nationals following an exciting game and an explosive 8th inning against the Chicago White Sox.

The Nationals got the go-ahead run to the plate in the top of the ninth, but they could not tie the game. The Nationals went 0-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine baserunners. The Nationals got a total of three hits all game.

Next, the Washington Nationals will have tomorrow off and head to Philadelphia to face the Phillies for a weekend series.  RHP Jake Irvin (2-3, 3.55) will make his first start of his career at Citizens Bank Park. Irvin has pitched to a 2.00 ERA (4 ER/18.0 IP) and a .186 opp. AVG across his last three starts.
