Washington D.C. - The Washington Nationals announced today that they have signed former Nationals first baseman/designated hitter Josh Bell to a one-year contract.

Bell, 32, returns to the Washington Nationals after a successful 2024 season with the Miami Marlins and Arizona Diamondbacks. He batted .249 with 23 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs, and 71 RBIs in 145 games. Notably, he significantly improved his performance in the second half of the season, hitting .304 with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs in 48 games after July 21st.  

Bell previously enjoyed a successful stint with the Nationals from 2021 to 2022, hitting .278 with 48 doubles, four triples, 41 home runs, and 145 RBIs in 247 games. He thrived at Nationals Park, posting a .302 batting average with 25 doubles, two triples, 22 home runs, and 72 RBIs in 125 games.  

An All-Star in 2019 and a Silver Slugger Award winner in 2022, Bell brings a wealth of experience to the Nationals. The nine-year Major League veteran boasts a career batting average of .258 with 209 doubles, 19 triples, 171 home runs, 613 RBIs, and 550 runs scored in 1147 games.
