Daniel Álvarez-Montes of El Extrabase reports that the Washington Nationals have signed Ehire Adrianza to a one-year $1.5 million deal that contains incentives. The super-utility man spent the 2021 season with the Atlanta Braves, posting a respectable .728 OPS in 209 plate appearances, the second-best OPS of his career. Throughout his career, Adrianza has hit .244/.313/.366 over 1,429 plate appearances and 575 games.
Ehire Adrianza provides bench depth to the Washington Nationals with a strong walk rate and amazing positional versatility. In 2021, Adrianza played all over the field, logging innings at every position other than first and catcher. Thankfully, he can play all of them competently, with rightfield being the only position he posted a negative Outs Above Average at. Adrianza will have a hard time getting plate appearances though, with such a crowded infield and outfield already.
