Washington, D.C. - This afternoon, the Washington Nationals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-4 to even the series.

The Nationals are now 50-61 overall, 1-1 during the month of August, 11-10  against N.L. central teams, and, lastly, are .24-28 at home. The Nationals are now 10-5 when they wear their City Connect Jerseys.

The Nationals sent LHP DJ Herz to the mound to start the game. Entering today's game, Herz had an impressive 11.54 strikeouts per nine innings, leading all qualified rookies. Today, the south-paw pitched 5.0 innings, giving up one run on two hits. Herz struck out, threw 77 pitches, 49 of them strikes, and faced 20 batters. Herz now has a 2-4 record with a 4.27 ERA.

Over Herz's past three starts, the left-hander has a 2.40 ERA with four earned runs over 15.0 innings pitched. Herz has struck out 18 and has a .182 opponent's batting average.

RHP Kyle Finnegan also got his 29th season save and now has a 3.38 ERA. Finnegan ranks second in the National League, third in MLB saves, and is 29-for-33 in save opportunities this season.

Luis García Jr. had a great day at the plate today. He went 3-4 with an RBI and hit his 12th home run of the season in the bottom of the third, helping the Nationals win this afternoon. García started the four-run rally in the first inning to give the Nationals the early lead and added a homer in the third to extend the lead.

Travis Blankenhorn got his first RBIs and hit since being called up to the Washington Nationals in the bottom of the first inning.

James Wood got his 17th RBI this season with the Nationals, went 1-3, and extended his on-base streak to eight games. During his eight-game streak, Wood is hitting .345 (10-for-29) with two doubles, a triple, five RBI, seven walks, a stolen base, and six runs scored.

RF Alex Call went 3-3 this afternoon with an RBI. Call has reached base safely in all his ten major league baseball starts this season and has hit safely in 9 of the 10 starts. Additionally, over his 12 games with the Nationals in 2024, Call is hitting .429 (12-for-28) with two doubles, a home run, five RBI, seven walks, three stolen bases, and seven runs scored.

The Nationals and Brewers will finish their three-game series tomorrow afternoon, with the first pitch at 1:35 p.m. EDT.

Tomorrow's Probable Starters

The Nationals will send LHP Mitchell Parker (5-6, 4.31) to the mound who is in search to get back to .500. Mitchell Parker is 3-2 with a 3.78 ERA in his eight career home starts and Parker has pitched at least 6.0 innings in six of those eight starts.

The Brewers will send RHP Tobias Myers, who has a 6-4 record and a 3.10 ERA, to the mound to face the Nationals.
