The Washington Nationals have added another new face Brad Ciolek as their senior director of amateur scouting according to the Washington Post over the weekend. News of Ciolek’s addition was first reported by the Athletic.
Brad Ciolek will become the newest addition to the revamped front office as Mike Rizzo is busy replacing familiar names such as Johnny DiPuglia, Washington’s international scouting director and one of General Manager Mike Rizzo’s closest confidants, who resigned in early September.
In early October, the Nationals added Danny Haas to be the new scouting director. Brad Ciolek will be reporting to Haas.
Both Haas and Ciolek have worked together in the past as both of them worked for the Baltimore Orioles. Ciolek was with the Orioles in 2011 as a member of their player development staff, left in 2012, then returned in 2013. Haas joined the Orioles in 2012 and spent seven seasons with the organization before joining the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2019 as a special assignment scout.
