Fredericksburg Nationals Story Line

After dropping the series opener last night, the FredNats will look to bounce back today at Virginia Credit Union Stadium against the Delmarva Shorebirds.

Opening night starter Jake Bennett gets the ball for his third start of the season and is still searching for his first win. He faced one over the minimum on Opening Night and will try to pitch the FredNats to a game two win in the series against Delmarva starter Juan Nunez.

What you need to know

  • The Fredericksburg Nationals left 16 men on base and went 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position in an 11-6 loss to the Shorebirds in the series opener. Daylen Lile, Sammy Infante, and Armando Cruz all had two hits in the game, but the FredNats could not buy a base hit with a runner in scoring position.
  • In 2 out of the three wins this year for the Fredericksburg Nationals, the team has trailed when down to their final out. On Easter Sunday against Lynchburg, Daylen Lile tied the game with two outs and two strikes in the 10th inning, which led to an Elijah Green walk-off single. Last Sunday, Johnathon Thomas’ go-ahead home run came with two outs in the 9th inning, and the FredNats trailed by one run.
