The highly sought-after Japanese free agent Yoshinobu Yamamoto is set to join the Los Angeles Dodgers, signing a reported 12-year, $325 million deal, as revealed by YES Network’s Jack Curry and confirmed by ESPN’s Jeff Passan last night.

According to the reports, the deal includes a $50MM signing bonus for the  client and no deferred money. It comes with an additional near-$51MM posting fee to the Orix Buffaloes of Nippon Professional Baseball, bringing the overall commitment north of $375MM.

According to Andy Martino of SNY, the New York “Mets pushed their bid from the high $200 million range to $325 million over 12 years, according to league sources. Shortly after, the Yankees offered Yamamoto $300 million over ten years, per those sources.”

Additionally, according to Andy Martino, the two finalist teams were the Dodgers and the Yankees.

Yamamoto will join fellow country-mate Shohei Ohtani in Dodger blue for the foreseeable future.

Ohtani  and Yamamoto, and their new team will visit the Washington Nationals from April 23 through the 25th.
