Major League Baseball has opened a formal investigation into the matter surrounding the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani and his former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, the league announced Friday.

The announcement from Major League Baseball came two days after the Dodgers fired Mizuhara as reporters pressed for questions about at least $4.5 million in wire transfers sent from Ohtani's bank account to a bookmaking operation under federal investigation.

As Haden discussed in this Morning’s Briefing, this does not look good for Major League Baseball and also Ohtani.

More to come as the story develops.
