SALISBURY, MD - The Fredericksburg Nationals secured a five-win week with a 6-3, 13-inning victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds.

After a Caleb Farmer RBI single in the 2nd inning, Shorebird pitching held the Nats in check, but their bats could not scratch a run across. Then in the top of the seventh, Brenner Cox doubled the lead with his RBI knock to plate Brandon Pimentel.

Delmarva rallied for a pair of runs in the home half of the seventh on a pair of Fredericksburg Nationals errors to tie the game at 2-2 and ultimately go into extra innings.

Neither side could score in the 10th before Fredericksburg broke through in the 11th inning. Nate Ochoa was the runner placed on second base, and he moved to third when Cristhian Vaquero flew out to right-center. Brandon Pimentel got Ochoa in with a sacrifice fly to deep center field. However, Anderson De Los Santos punched a ball through the right side of the infield to lead off the 11th inning and continue the extra-inning affair.

The 12th inning came and went before the Nats broke things open in the 13th. Ochoa drove a run home with a fielder’s choice to third base, Pimentel added another with a sac fly, and then a successful double steal with runners on the corners helped the Fredericksburg Nationals open up a 6-3 lead.

The Shorebirds got one run back in the bottom of the 13th inning, but Mason Denaburg (2-0) closed it out to secure a 6-4 win. Jared Beck (0-3) took the loss for Delmarva.

The Fredericksburg Nationals will return home on Tuesday, April 30th, to begin a six-game series against the Down East Wood Ducks.
