Andrew Pinckney, currently ranked the No. 20 prospect in the Washington Nationals organization, continues to emerge as one of the system’s most intriguing outfielders thanks to his power-speed combination and steady year-over-year development.

Selected in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Alabama, Pinckney showed consistent improvement throughout his college career before breaking out as a senior. He hit .339 with a .442 on-base percentage and a 1.100 OPS, putting himself firmly on the radar as a rising prospect.

After joining the Nationals organization in 2023, Pinckney quickly climbed four minor league levels in just one year, reaching Triple-A Rochester by late August 2024. While his defense stood out immediately in center field—especially following Dylan Crews’ promotion to Washington—his bat lagged behind. In 23 games at Rochester, he hit .253 with a 41% strikeout rate and a 7% walk rate, highlighting early concerns about plate discipline.
